A Wish To Overcome The Hurdles: Story of Rohan

Rohan (changed name) is 12 years old. He lives in Petlawad Village. He is enrolled in the Government School of his village where he was not able to go for almost a year & more because of lockdown. When he first came to know about the community classroom, which was initiated by Mera Gaon Meri Dunia in his village, he was the first one to stand at the door of the community center with a lot of ambition in his bright sparkling eyes.

Rohan used to struggle while reading Hindi as he shared in one of our book reading sessions. We have some storybooks for our children to which he seemed quite fascinated and asked for takeaway them for home-reading. He shared the wish that he wants to read fluently whenever he reads something. He has now built a habit of reading one page of any Hindi book and marking the words with which he struggles and learning their pronunciation with the help of family members, his mates at the community center, and our class facilitator.

Mera Gaon Meri Dunia is running 4 community centers in 3 villages for the children studying in 3-5th grades. Sparsh is a medium to connect the children with quality education through empowering the youth of their communities. We are now moving to scale up this ripple of change through 10 more villages in our region.
